Slimming treatments are a quick fix solution

Just with slimming creams, slimming treatments are gaining popularity. It seems the promise of melting off fat and cellulite is too irresistible to pass up. But can these spa treatments really work. In this section I will look at a variety of beauty salon based treatments that claim to lose you inches.

I will also touch upon more drastic measures such as cosmetic surgery and weight loss surgery, talking about the pros and cons but I think if you are considering these radical procedures you should really talk to a professional.

So what slimming treatments are out there?

The most popular slimming treatment that can be found in most beauty salons up and down the country are body wraps but they are by no means the only treatment.

body wraps are the most popular slimming treatmentBody Wraps – body wraps involve the application of a cream, gel or clay after an exfoliation and massage. You are then covered with a material, elastic cloth, cling-film or heated blanket. This snug wrap induces sweating and aids in the shedding of unnecessary interstitial fluid. As tissue wastes are removed from the body you can experience a loss of two to four inches.

Anti-cellulite treatments – there are several ways cellulite can be broken up a drained from your system. Ranging from laser to massage to ultrasound. Massage can either be done as a traditional massage using detoxing essential oils or with mechanical devices that are rolled over the skin to break up the fatty deposits and stimulate the lymphatic system.

Colon cleanse – you’ve guessed it. This is where the toxins are cleansed from the colon and large intestine with water. You will usually require a few treatments within a ten day period. This is a classic treatment for celebrities before a red carpet event.

cosmetic surgery is a drastic optionCosmetic surgery – this can range from liposuction to a tummy tuck. Whilst I will touch upon these treatments in this section I won’t be focusing on them too heavily as you should really get medical advice, know all of the pros and cons before embarking upon any invasive procedure.

Weight loss surgery – if you are considering weight loss surgery the chances are you are extremely overweight and require these medical procedures for your health. They are a drastic option and you really need to talk to a doctor before going any further. I have never required any such surgery but I do know people that have. I am hoping to get someone who has gone through it to write this article as I think you’ll be wanting some been there, done that advice that I just can’t give. Please keep checking back.

Lipodissolve – this is a new treatment that involves the injection of fat liquefying chemicals. I am not going to cover this as it is still being investigated by the FDA and as far as I am aware it isn’t available in the UK. There are questions over its safety.

So do these slimming treatments work?

Well when talking about the beauty salon treatments it depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a quick fix solution to lose a couple of inches so that you can fit into a dress then yes they do. But a long term solution they are not. As I keep saying the only long term way to lose weight is to eat healthily and exercise more. Or you will just put the weight back on. These treatments may be a good kick start to a diet giving you an incentive but don’t ask for more than that. They are a quick fix solution.

Surgery, whether cosmetic or weight loss are long term solutions but, especially in regards to weight loss surgery, they require drastic changes to your lifestyle. Please consider this before going ahead.
